There are grisly details of the reign of terror.. ISIS has continued to expand its territory.. and with each new town taken, more death and brutal bloodshed has taken place in its path..

The world, mostly, hasn’t talked much about the crimes against humanity taking place..

While beheadings and now the burning of the Jordanian pilot have dominated headlines and debate, some more horrific things are taking place to the most innocent: Children in Iraq..

Among the ways children are meeting their early demise: Crucifixions.. being buried alive.. being sold as sex slaves and becoming victims of rape and torture.. And those under 18, more and more, are being used as suicide bombers. Not just kids.. mentally challenged kids. One quote from Renate Winter with the UN committee:

We have had reports of children, especially children who are mentally challenged, who have been used as suicide bombers, most probably without them even understanding

There are stories of children being sold at markets with price tags on them. Sexual enslavement has become commonplace..

The news from this land seems to be that of the middle ages, when darkness ruled the land and no hope was found. The modern age has somehow forgotten about the children of Iraq. We went into the nation over a decade ago and ‘liberated’ a people—now their children are growing up in the constant fear of murder and mayhem. That is a punishment not even worthy of animals..

This post, as I write, has brought me to literal tears.

In our world—with all of the simplicities and technologies—should be opposed to violence and abhorrent behavior. But now we should have evolved beyond our old style evils and reached for the stars. We should have high speed travel across the planet and a way to quickly get to other planets. Instead we continue to warp our minds in medieval mayhem and, in the end, kill our planet’s very soul in the process.

I think the gates of hell are open. Sadly, the doors blew off and no one can close them up again..
