During the video, the man recording said he hoped he caught it on camera.. he did.  The result of his quick action was video of an amazing streaking fireball in the sky with a long tail trailing behind it..

There are reports from Kansas that the sight was also visible in the sky above that state.

Even one comment from San Francisco California said they also witnessed an object streak through the sky, as well.

Turns out, according to media reports today, that it was not a meteor but instead a rocket .. A number of states saw the object in the night, including people in Idaho, where NEWS 6 filed this report:
Did you see that light shooting across the sky Monday night?  We contacted Ada County Dispatchers and they tell us the FAA confirmed it was a meteor.  Another report came from NASA indicating it was a Chinese rocket used to launch a satellite and it was re-entering the atmosphere.

The object was scene throughout the Northwest and was reportedly viewed in Canada, Montana, Oregon, Washington and Utah.

According to a report filed on ABC4 in Utah, the "NASA Ambassador" wouldn't be surprised if people found space junk today..
STANSBURY PARK OBSERVATORY (ABC 4 UTAH) - If you were up around 11 o'clock Monday night, you probably got a message to come out side and look up at a spectacular site as a Chinese rocket took minutes to fall back to earth.
"I found a prediction that came out yesterday that something was going to be flying right over Utah," said Patrick Wiggins, a NASA ambassador.
NASA, NORAD and the Chinese knew that the rocket would take over the sky and could come down at any moment.
"It was launched in December. But a Chinese rocket that was used to put a satellite into orbit and the rocket is no longer needed so it just slowly came down and last night passed right over," Wiggins adds.
The rocket could be seen as far north as Canada, east to Colorado and down to southern Utah.
"Satellites reentering, they'll take minutes as this one did. This one took several minutes from the south east up to the north," says Wiggans.
Wiggins adds that because this Chinese rocket was so big, he wouldn't be surprised if some Utahns along the path went out side and found pieces of it this morning in their yard
