Pope Francis used his Easter homily to send a message to the world and condemn what he calls a global population complicit in the deaths of Christians at the hands of Islamic extremists..

MORE

Pope Francis said, among other thing during his Easter mass:
May constant prayer rise up from all people of goodwill for those who lost their lives

I think in particular of the young people who were killed last Thursday at Garissa University College in Kenya, for all those who have been kidnapped, and for those forced to abandon their homes and loved ones

Today we see our brothers persecuted, decapitated, crucified for their faith in you, under our eyes and often with our complicit silence

USA TODAY's article detailed how a drenching rain soaked crowds who gathered to hear Pope Francis.. as the Pope emerged in his Popemobile, the rain ended..

Eric Lyman writes,
He specifically mentioned Syria and Iraq, Israel, the Palestinian territories, Nigeria, Sudan, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Ukraine, and Libya. He paused before calling for the "absurd bloodshed and all barbarous acts of violence" to cease in war-torn Liyba, the source of refugees flooding into Europe through Italy.

"May constant prayer rise up from all people of goodwill for those who lost their lives," Francis said. "I think in particular of the young people who were killed last Thursday at Garissa University College in Kenya, for all those who have been kidnapped, and for those forced to abandon their homes and loved ones."
