Paralyzed man walks again after cell transplant ยป
This is amazing..
For all of the bad that can happen in the future, all of the transhumanism mania turning on humans, thereโs also a chance of some miracles. We saw one in this case..
Darek Fidyka, who was paralyzed from the chest down in a knife attack in 2010, can now walk using a frame..
It happened after cells were transplanted from his naval cavity to his spinal cord..
The BBC reports this:
Darek Fidyka, 40, was paralysed after being stabbed repeatedly in the back in the 2010 attack.
He said walking again - using a frame for support - was โan incredible feelingโ, adding: โWhen you canโt feel almost half your body, you are helpless, but when it starts coming back itโs like you were born again.โ
Prof Geoff Raisman, chair of neural regeneration at the Institute of Neurology, UCL, led the UK research team.
He said what had been achieved was โmore impressive than man walking on the Moonโ.
Perhaps the walking on the moon comment was overstated. Or was it?
A man who would have been written off decades ago walks againโฆ.
That is a pretty big deal.
And one giant leap for mankind..
